I absolutely love the summer. Hot, sunny days, warm breezy nights. Endless summer days that seem to stretch on forever. And part of that enjoyment is going to the beach, lounging in the sun, and enjoying the ocean water. That said, summer also means summer wear, particularly swimwear.
As a young lady and now as a mother of 2, I have always been particular about the swimwear I choose to wear. For years and up until recently, I have always had a difficult time choosing something that I felt comfortable in. I have spent hours and hours scouring shops to find the right swimsuit that offered me the right coverage for my taste, but also made me feel stylish and beautiful.
The Struggle To Find Beautiful and Modest Swim Attire
Unfortunately, as most women do, myself included, they perceive themselves to have “problem areas” (in my case my arms) and can be self-conscious about certain parts of their bodies and how they look in swimsuits which makes finding the “perfect” swimsuit almost impossible.
Personally, I like to have the top of my arms covered up and I have always felt that most swimsuits are too revealing for my taste.
Even now, as a confident woman who has achieved many things in my life, this summer season found me again struggling to find swimwear that I would feel comfortable in. The LYRA Swimwear Story
LYRA Swimwear was created because of one woman’s struggle who loved the outdoors, wanted to keep fit, and enjoyed swimming but didn’t want to sacrifice modesty or fashion.
After struggling to find a swimsuit that checked all these boxes, she decided to create her own brand and designs. After a year of creating mood boards, the LYRASWIMS swim range was launched in December 2016.
Classic Hollywood Elegance
What I love about the style aesthetic is the swimsuits and designs exude a classic Hollywood, elegance mixed with Moroccan beach cool all featuring a streamlined, minimalist design.

Below is the Sofia Crop which has lovely “top-of-the-arm” coverage which is difficult to find but a suit I was particularly interested in.
Below is the same type of swimsuit but in a classic black for a sleek, streamlined and modest look.
Another piece that I liked were the sarongs that come in a variety of colours. I also love their beach trousers that have a classic and fresh look (seen below)
Final Thoughts
